Open urban space at Trianglen, near the beautiful main entrance to Fælledparken

Right next to Trianglen is Ingrid Jespersen’s Square—an urban space surrounded by trees, seating areas, and plenty of room for those little breaks in the middle of the day. Serving as a natural gateway to Fælledparken, and with Østerbrogade and Nordre Frihavnsgade just a few minutes’ walk away, the square offers a peaceful respite between the bustling city life and the green park. Here, everyday life, the park, and culture blend together in the heart of one of Østerbro’s most vibrant hubs.

The square’s modest size gives it a special sense of intimacy. Here, you can settle in with a cup of coffee, meet up with a friend, or take a break from your daily routine. At the same time, the square has the potential to serve as a gathering place for cultural events, community building, and urban living experiments that bring people together across age groups and interests.

The square is named after Ingrid Jespersen, in memory and tribute to one of Denmark’s great pioneers in women’s education. Ingrid Jespersen was an educator and school principal who founded Ingrid Jespersen’s School on Nordre Frihavnsgade in 1894. She was a trailblazer in girls’ education and worked to give young women access to a more ambitious and modern education at a time when opportunities were limited. Her name is closely associated with Østerbro, where the school still stands today.

Local tip
Grab a coffee at one of the nearby cafes, settle down on one of the square’s benches, and watch Østerbro’s unique everyday atmosphere unfold.
