A vibrant hub with historical depth and modern vibrancy
Trianglen is a central and lively urban space in Østerbro, where several major thoroughfares intersect—for cyclists, cars, the metro, and pedestrians alike. Located between Østerbrogade, Øster Allé, and Blegdamsvej, Trianglen is a key hub in the city, close to Fælledparken, Parken, and the bustling activity around the Lakes and the stadium. Although the area is largely characterized by movement and transit, it also contains small pockets of leisure and urban life—with cafés, take-out spots, shopping options, and easy access to green oases within walking distance.
The atmosphere at Trianglen is urban and energetic. Here you’ll encounter runners in athletic gear heading toward Fælledparken, fans on their way to a game, locals out shopping, and parents with strollers in the wide metro entrance. The sound of traffic mingles with the buzz from outdoor dining areas, and the pace is faster than in Østerbro’s many quiet squares. Yet there is a special character here—a feeling of a big city in pocket size, where the city’s rhythm is palpable, but where you can still find your own moment of calm amid the hustle and bustle.
Trianglen has historically been one of Østerbro’s most important transportation hubs and gathering places. The name refers to the square’s triangular shape, and since the late 1800s, the area has served as a hub for streetcars, marketplaces, and later buses and the metro. With the opening of the metro station in 2019, Trianglen took on a new role as a gateway to both Østerbro and Fælledparken. The area still bears the mark of its historical significance as a hub—but today stands as a modern urban space in motion.
