Open Parade
, Nordhavn, Århusgade neighborhood

Join us as the Århusgade neighborhood is transformed into one big celebration with the Cultural District’s time-honored Open Parade.

The parade is a celebration of community, imagination, and city life. We invite everyone to join the procession through the city’s streets and public spaces, where music, entertainment, street art, and colorful performances bring Østerbro and Nordhavn together.

Leading the parade is the legendary Styltesigne and her stilt-walking children, who, with their colorful costumes and impressive height, transform the urban landscape into a living fairy tale.

Together with the energetic musicians from the Zirkus Orchestra, they fill the streets with rhythms, joy, and surprises that make both children and adults stop in their tracks, smile, and join in the dancing.

As the towering figures move through the city to the sounds of the festive orchestra, a special magic takes hold—the very magic that, year after year, makes the Open Parade something truly special.

As is tradition, the parade starts at Hans Egedes Church and makes its way down Århusgade toward Nordhavn. Along the way, a group of homemade hobbyhorses—from a workshop at Østerbro Nærgenbrugsstation—joins the parade, before it culminates in a festive street party in the Århusgade neighborhood, where music, activities, and a sense of community bring together participants from across the district.
