“Frederik” is a musical puppet show featuring puppeteer Astrid Kjær. The show is based on Leo Lionni’s children’s book of the same name and tells the story of Frederik the mouse, who does not take part in gathering the autumn harvest. Instead, he sits daydreaming and gazing out over the fields. The other mice don’t understand why he isn’t participating, but when winter comes and the mice in the burrow have eaten up all their stores, Frederik shows the others what he has gathered. Stories about colors, the sun, and scents help the mice get through the harshest part of winter.

Through music, puppets, and shadow plays, the story is told about the value of contributing something different—that we may not all be able to do the same things, but together we can achieve so much more.
