Join this year's big kayak parade for Greenland

Grab your paddle and join us for a truly special experience on the water.

On the UN’s International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we invite you to join us in a grand celebration of Greenland, Greenlandic culture, and the bond between Greenland and Denmark.

On August 9, we’ll fill the Port of Copenhagen with kayaks, Greenlandic flags, and a sense of community. Together, we’ll create a vibrant celebration of Kalaallit Nunaat right in the heart of Copenhagen.

Join the kayak parade:

Bring your own kayak or rent one, and join hundreds of other kayakers for a spectacular group paddle through Copenhagen Harbor. Buy a ticket here

Leading the procession, the performance duo INUÀNIMA, featuring the Greenlandic-Danish musician and mask dancer Aviaja Lumholt, sails on a raft. At the parade’s three stops along the harbor, INUÀNIMA presents evocative performances inspired by Greenlandic myths, music, and mask dance.

The kayak parade sets off from Nordatlantens Brygge to Ofelia Plads and continues on to Sandkaj in Nordhavn.

As a participant in the kayak parade, you’ll receive a 20% discount on drinks at Kayak Bar on the day of the event—the perfect way to end the day after hours on the water.

You don't have to be in a kayak to join in.

Along the route, spectators can enjoy the colorful kayak parade, the many Greenlandic flags, and INUÁNIMA’s performances on the water.

You can also join a special canal tour featuring stories about Greenland in Copenhagen and the relationship between Greenland and Denmark.

The Kayak Parade is being held in collaboration with Kajakhotellet, Stromma, the Greenlandic House in Copenhagen, Kayak Bar, the Danish Canoe and Kayak Federation, Qajak Copenhagen, the Government of Greenland, Kulturdistriktet, and By & Havn.
