Debut Fest 2026: Mango On Ice

In the short film *Mango on Ice*, we follow young Valena at a bar on her 18th birthday. An evening that brings both highs and lows for Val.

The film explores friendship from adolescence to adulthood—from being inseparable to being too busy to see each other. It also explores the desire and fantasy of being part of a duo of friends, and perhaps even turning it into a trio. 

With “Vapen” as its faithful companion, the film is typical of the 2020s, but the questions it raises extend far beyond the years we’re currently living in. After all, how much can we really expect from one another? And when are people true friends? 

Debut Fest is Copenhagen’s festival for emerging art and new talent. The festival brings together debuting artists across various art forms and gives the audience the opportunity to experience Copenhagen’s new voices up close. 

This year, you can enjoy a total of 36 different acts over two days when Debut Fest takes over the Brønshøj Water Tower and the Kildevæld Cultural Center on September 4 and 5.
