Debut Fest 2026: The Grass Is Growing

An audiovisual work about finding one’s place in a new landscape, where silence, routines, and boredom become ways of experiencing change.

*The Grass Grows* is a film about moving from the city to the countryside and the quiet yet profound change that follows when the rhythm of life shifts. Through a static gaze at a landscape in the making and an intimate soundscape of everyday routines at home, the work explores the tension between stillness and movement, distance and closeness.

The work invites the audience into a sensory experience of slowness and a reflection on change, a sense of home, and boredom as a way of being in the world.

You have to experience the work if you're curious about what emerges when the pace slows down and when the small, almost invisible movements of everyday life are allowed to take center stage.

Debut Fest is Copenhagen’s festival for emerging art and new talent. The festival brings together debuting artists across various art forms and gives the audience the opportunity to experience Copenhagen’s new voices up close.

This year, you can enjoy a total of 36 different acts over two days when Debut Fest takes over the Brønshøj Water Tower and the Kildevæld Cultural Center on September 4 and 5.
