Debut Fest 2026: Future On
The concept behind the performance stems from a simple yet crucial paradox: We constantly talk about the past and the future, but we can only exist in the present. The performance therefore poses the question: What happens if we actually stay in the moment—and meet each other there?
“Future On” unfolds as a physical dialogue between two performers. There is no traditional narrative, but rather a continuous flow of movement in which bodies move in and out of different states—together and separately. Through movement, the piece explores the tensions between closeness and distance, recognition and alienation, the sensory present, and what we imagine. The audience will experience a theatrical world where time is not linear, but fluid and constantly changing.
Debut Fest is Copenhagen’s festival for emerging art and new talent. The festival brings together debuting artists across various art forms and gives the audience the opportunity to experience Copenhagen’s new voices up close.
This year, you can enjoy a total of 36 different acts over two days when Debut Fest takes over the Brønshøj Water Tower and the Kildevæld Cultural Center on September 4 and 5.
