Debut Fest 2026: “Cui bono?” Polychromatic Speculative Archaeology

A polychromatic, speculative archaeological find that reminds the viewer not to believe everything they see.

“Cui Bono?” is an attempt to recontextualize not only the polychromatic genre, but is also an example of speculative archaeology—a branch of archaeology in which artificial archaeological finds are created.

“Cui Bono?” is a speculative exploration rooted in art history that aims to shed light on the ontological and discursive distinctions within the history of sculpture in the West.

Debut Fest is Copenhagen’s festival for emerging art and new talent. The festival brings together debuting artists across various art forms and gives the audience the opportunity to experience Copenhagen’s new voices up close.

This year, you can enjoy a total of 36 different acts over two days when Debut Fest takes over the Brønshøj Water Tower and the Kildevæld Cultural Center on September 4 and 5.
