Copenhagen Jazz Festival: Jesper Bodilsen/Niclas Knudsen Small Band

Jesper Bodilsen and Niclas Knudsen have each performed with a wide variety of artists both in Denmark and abroad. Jesper is known, among other things, for his collaboration with the Italian piano virtuoso Stefano Bollani, and Niclas for the band Ibrahim Electric, among other things.

They have known each other for many years, but it is only recently that they have come together to perform as a duo—a challenging yet inspiring format for both of them. Since they both share a deep love for Duke Ellington’s music, it was a natural progression for the duo to arrange some of his classics for bass and guitar, a combination rarely heard.
